Electrified Transportation: As viewed by the CEB

Emerging of Electrified transportation, will draw a win- win situation for both the transport sector and Electricity sector. For the utility, with the increasing demand, the room to exact more of our wind potential will be opened up. As a country we can easily step towards more indigenous technologies and reduce the dependency on expenditure on petroleum imports. Eng. Lakshitha Weerasinghe, Chief Engineer (Business and operational strategy), Ceylon Electricity Board adds his view from the perspective of utility sector.

Dr. Beshan Kulapala, the project manager of "VEGA: the ongoing electric super car project by CODEGEN" illustrates the fundamentals behind the prevailing electrified transportation technology whilst emphasizing the importance of utilizing and nurturing it in our motherland: Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he stresses  the timely necessity  of getting the Sri Lankan brains involved in research and development activities in this particular field to bring about a better change in the world we live in.

Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya breaks the SILENCE

Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya, an international Energy Consultant as well as the Director of Resource Management Associates (Pvt) Ltd unfolds the present greatest problem in the Sri Lankan power system, "Absence of Demand Side Management". He points out that electric transportation along with railway electrification can significantly assist in managing the demand in the off-peak. He further explains the need of rapid implementation of technologically advanced techniques in order to solve the problems with Demand Side Management in an innovative manner.
